Once again, welcome and enjoy.
The Quest Scholars Program was founded on a firm belief in the potential and ability of the nation’s most talented under-served students. The organization includes two programs—QuestBridge, and QuestLeadership. This tour details QuestLeadership, for more information on QuestBridge, please visit www.questbridge.org.
QuestLeadership is a leadership and science education program for talented, low-income youth. The program begins with a five-week summer residential program on the Stanford campus, and continues with five-years of support (services extend through the student’s undergraduate career). One student at a time, QuestLeadership strives to provide underprivileged students with the mentorship, personal direction, and educational skills to succeed at America's best universities.
Now in its tenth year of operation, Quest graduates have enjoyed tremendous success in their college and graduate school endeavors. 100% of Quest Scholars have gone on to college, and 99% have graduated or are still in school (this later statistic is compared to a national average of 50% for students from similar economic backgrounds). Approximately 80% of Quest students attend Stanford, Harvard, Berkeley, MIT, or other Ivy League schools and our graduates have gone on to become Fulbright Scholars, Rhodes Scholars, George Soros Fellows, and leaders in their communities.
Currently, only 3% of students attending America’s best 146 colleges are drawn from the lowest economic quartile—only 9% from the lower half. Over 50% of low-income students who score in the highest percentiles on standardized tests never apply to or attend four-year colleges. America’s educational institutions are missing out on scores of talent needlessly. The Quest Scholars Program seeks to change this.
